General Description:
Under the general supervision of the Perioperative Services Manager and under the direct supervision of the Surgery Clinical Coordinator and the OR Registered Nurse, the Surgical Scrub Technician provides support and assistance in the care of the patient undergoing invasive and other surgical procedures and in the preparation of supplies and the Operating Room for procedures. The position shall exemplify the desired Culture of Choice® and philosophies of Parrish Healthcare.

General Description:

Key Responsibilities:
Administrative
- Manage robotic surgery schedule.
- Order and maintain ancillary supplies related to robotic surgery.
- Order and maintain inventory of instruments and accessories.
- Maintain and update OR/Hospital protocols related to robotic surgery.
Technical
- Manage routine preventative maintenance on robotic surgical system.
- Set up of auxiliary equipment for robotic procedures.
- In-service OR Nursing and SPD staff on pre-, intra- and post-operative management of the robotic surgical system.
- Conduct robotic surgical system training.
Clinical
- Clinical troubleshooting of the robotic surgical system during robotic procedures
- Set up robotic surgical system for surgical procedures
- Assist as scrub nurse or first assistant at the patient side (If applicable)
- Supervise the preparation and positioning of patients
- Maintain records of surgical procedure pathways and guidelines
- Document procedure results and assist with procedure data collection and management
- Target and support new surgeons interested in robotic surgery
- Develop and maintain a clinical pathway for individual robotic surgery surgical teams
Other
- In-service Sterile Processing regarding cleaning and sterilization of instruments and accessories
- Serve as point person for any robotic related questions (System or Clinical)
- Liaison between hospital, vendor(s) and health care professionals
- Demonstrate robotic surgical system to surgeons or visiting groups
- Performs similar or related duties as assigned.
- Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as it pertains to the work area
Requirements:
Formal Education:
- Vocational or other technical school, certification, training or apprenticeship required beyond high school.
Work Experience:
- 2 years to < 3 years ( Operating Room); 1 year to < 2 years ( da Vinci Robot)
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
- Certified Surgical Technologist required
- Basic Life Support Certification through The American Heart Association
- Advanced Life Support Certification ( within 6 months of hire)
- First Assistant (preferred)
