General Description:
Under the direct supervision of the Childcare Supervisor, the duties of the Childcare Teacher include, but are not limited to, hands-on instruction of children between six (6) weeks and five (5) years of age within the childcare program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implementation of daily lesson plans through facilitation and participation with children in group activities to promote child development in all areas: cognitive, social, emotional, physical, language, and daily living skills.
- Assesses each child's growth and development, and implements a plan to meet each child's individual needs.
- Responsible for writing and posting the daily schedules and lesson plans.*
- Provides supervision to Childcare Teacher Assistant and classroom volunteers.*
- Maintains positive staff and parent relationships. May be asked to participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to develop individual plans for the children.*
- Assists children with self-care activities.*
- Adheres to policies as set; provides input on policy development.*
- Develops and maintains professionalism with the children, parents, employees and partners.*
- Meets ore exceeds yearly requirements for continuing education.*
- Performs similar or related duties as assigned.
- Knows fire, disaster, and safety procedure and regulations as it pertains to work area.*
Requirements:
Formal Education:
- Vocational or other technical school, certification, training or apprenticeship required beyond high school. Associate's Degree in early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in an early childhood program .
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
- CDA (Child Development Associate Credential) CPR, First Aid
