General Description:
The Chaplain is responsible for promoting and demonstrating Parrish Healthcare's Culture of Choice®; for coordinating the Pastoral Care Department/Program, which includes overseeing and ensuring the spiritual and emotional support, counseling and sacramental needs of patients, their families and care partners (employees, medical staff member and volunteers). Supervise and facilitate the work of those delivering pastoral services; coordinates clergy, pastoral visitors, and volunteers from the religious community; supports an interdisciplinary approach to pastoral care; and develops and maintains proper administration procedures in accordance with established policies and procedures. Serves to effectively fulfill our mission to provide Healing Experiences for Everyone all the Time® and achieve organizational strategic (Game Plan) goals. This position reports to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).

1. Coordinates operational planning within assigned functional area(s) to anticipate current /future service solutions;
2. Coordinates implementation of growth strategies to support achievement of Parrish Healthcare Game Plan goals.
HEALING EXPERIENCES | SERVICE
3. Coordinates and maintains departmental systems, processes, policies and procedures that result in assigned area(s) of responsibility and care partners always providing excellent service excellence as measured by national best-practice benchmarks.
4. Coordinate clergy, pastoral visitors, and volunteers from the religious community. Conducts orientation, and in-services to orient to policies and procedures. Conducts tours. Serves on community boards or program panels to facilitate interactions at the community level. Serves as liaison to area ministerial associations as appropriate. Conducts two events promoting interaction with local clergy annually.

5. Ensures the delivery of a complete program of pastoral care to patients/residents, family members and staff of all faith traditions. Oversees and actively participates in the delivery of pastoral care by ensuring that all requests, codes, deaths, and critical incidents are responded to in a timely manner. Collaborates with the health care team. Meets with patient and family member to determine their spiritual status and needs. Provides spiritual/emotional assistance through the patient's length of treatment. Ensures that appropriate worship opportunities are provided. Ensures that ritual and sacramental needs are met. Ensures that any appropriate documentation is provided to family (baptismal certificates, etc.) to document medical records.
6. Coordinates systems, processes, policies and procedures that result in a continuous improvement environment within which assigned area(s); holding self and others accountable for actions and outcomes.
7. Adheres to all Parrish Healthcare policies and procedures as well as regulations and codes established by federal, state, and local governments affecting professional practice and industry regulations. Leads necessary certification, accreditation, and audit procedures; and ensures that reports required by regulatory agencies are prepared and submitted within established timeframes.

8. 10. Effectively plans and administers annual budget(s) within assigned functional area(s).
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as pertains to the work area.

Requirements:

Formal Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts, Philosophy, Religion or related field required.
  • Masters degree in Theology, Divinity or Pastoral Care preferred
  • Four units of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) or equivalent education required

Required Experience:
  • 1-2 years experience in chaplaincy

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
  • Ordained by a religious denomination required
  • National certification from the Association of Professional Chaplains preferred
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification preferred
