General Description:
The Lead Echo Vascular Technologist reports to the Cardiovascular Services Manager and acts as a lead over the Echo Vascular Department and Echocardiovascular technologists. This position will be responsible for managing and coordinating the administrative and technical operations of the Echo Vascular Department. Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervises the daily activities of the Echo Vascular Department staff and assigns staff to meet demands. Manages the on-call schedule.
  • Acts as a clinical consultant to staff, nurses and physicians regarding advanced procedures and technologies.
  • Assists with administrative functions as required.
  • Assists with policies, procedures, and cardiac protocol development.
  • Communicates and provides training/education of new procedures and protocols to the staff and nursing.
  • Implements, monitors, and reports on Echo Vascular quality assurance activities. Participates in the department Quality Improvement process. Provides ongoing feedback to maximize quality.
  • Assists with accreditation process.
  • Performs echocardiograms in the lab and at bedside.
  • Ensures proper orientation of all equipment. Generates and follows up on work orders submitted.
  • Maintains appropriate communications with the Cardiovascular Services Manager regarding Echo Vascular Program issues. Provides decisions and solves problems with an authority level. Will work with Cardiovascular Services Manager to prepare capital and operational budget requests.
  • Participates in peer interviews, hiring process, and annual reviews
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Formal Education:
  • Associate's Degree, AND or other Two Year College equivalent required.

Work Experience:
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience

Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
  • BCLS required through American Heart Association
  • Active Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or Cardiac Credentialing International (CCI) registry status required.
