General Description:
This position reports to the Patient Access Manager and/or Supervisor. The Patient Access Representative (PARI) is responsible for promoting and demonstrating Parrish Healthcare's Culture of Choice®; Performs Registrations at any of Parrish's hospitals or off-site locations. Interviews patients to obtain all pertinent demographic, insurance, and clinical information for entry into EMR. Contact providers as needed. The position shall exemplify the desired Culture of Choice® and philosophies of Parrish Healthcare.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interview patients, their relatives, or other responsible individuals to obtain all necessary information.
  • All interactions are conducted in a professional manner, following H.E.A.R.T. guidelines, to provide exemplary Customer Service.
  • Data obtained and entered in the system is accurate and free of errors and is complete.
  • All processes requiring verification/signatures/authorizations are completed in a timely and accurate manner for assigned tasks
  • Understand/explain policies regarding services, pricing, insurance billing, and payment of account.
  • Obtain or create copies of necessary supporting documentation and ensure they are saved according to policy.
  • Work with physician offices and ancillary departments, providing information when necessary or forwarding relevant documents.
  • Answer incoming calls in a timely and professional manner.
  • Make outgoing calls to patients and providers as needed to obtain updated/corrected order information.
  • Meets/exceeds performance expectations and completes work within the required timeframe.
  • Attends in-service presentations and completes mandatory education.
  • Practice and adhere to the "Code of Conduct" philosophy and "Mission and Value Statement".
  • Successfully complete annual net learning modules and other assigned classes by established deadlines.
  • Follow EMTALA, HIPAA, and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Proactively identify problems and safety issues within the department and the hospital that place any patient, visitor or staff member at risk of injury; Reports any medical errors or safety concerns within the organization utilizing the hotline, RL or through direct report to Supervisor/Manager or Director.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned.
  • Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as it pertains to the work area.

Formal Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Work Experience:
  • No experience required; 1 to 2 years of related experience preferred.
